Cristianisme i Justícia’s New Year’s reflection uses the metaphor of zahoris (dowsers)—those capable of locating underground water currents and wells—to help us detect and reveal hidden currents of life and meaning within a social and political landscape dominated by discouragement. The text acknowledges that we close 2025 with a prevailing sense that it has been a worse year than previous ones, yet it rejects the idea that this diagnosis should lead to resignation. Instead, it invites us to keep moving and to refuse the 'there is no alternative' narrative—a self-serving discourse that seeks to 'kill hope and make us even more fearful and distrustful, especially selfish and dangerous beasts."
